I sette messaggeri (2017) – opera acusmatica

The seven messangers (6'22") is an electroacoustic work for manipulated MW radio receiver and electric bass sounds.

Inspired by the homonymous short story by Dino Buzzati, it is based on a mathematical formula. According to my personal personal interpretation, this story wants to give a metaphor of life as a never-ending journey, a journey of which both the starting point and the point of arrival are gradually forgotten and the only solution is to look ahead, beyond this. that our eyes can see. The mathematical formula, which expresses the lengthening of the distances traveled by the messengers over time, is translated into the speed of movement in the space of seven sound objects. These sound objects are selected fragments of radio broadcasts (I sampled tube radios from the 1930s). The fragments become a sound transposition of the messages that travel in space in the musical time of the composition. Running like messengers through space, these "tuning needles" end up getting lost and dissolving into digital noise; while other noises buttons / rustles of radios and metallic scuffles of stringed instruments recreate the mindfulness of the protagonist of the story in which listeners identify with.

Questo brano è stato selezionato per il Florence to New York Project 2019, con la produzione di un album presso i Nolan Studio e un concert in Theather Loewe in New York on 12/06/2019 (video).
