Fausto Caricato is a sound artist and musician from Pisa. His sound research is structured as an organic, fluid and emotional mix of synthetic elements and analog instruments: a dual art that is the reflection of a complete artist on the border between the formal approach of sound design and the more romantic aspect of the classical and rock musician.
His work reflects on memory, perception and soundscape approaching concepts of acoustic ecology and deep listening to explore both the reality and mind. Using a mix of digital technologies, musical instruments and sound objects he creates electroacoustic/instrumental compositions or performances and occasionally works with other artists for sound installations, contemporary dance performances, film soundtracks, sound archives.
Some of his electroacoustic works have been selected for international festivals and projects including Phonurgia Nova Awards, Florence to New York Project, Diffrazioni Festival, Teheran Electroacoustic Festival, musicaelettronica.it. and Tempo Real Festival Z
In collaboration with local associations and institutions he offers activities in his territory such as the Cammini Sonori soundwalk cycle, the Spuren experimental music festival and Sonos field-recording workshop. In 2023/24 season he curated the off-air program for Fango Radio dedicated to field-recording activities, in which he selected the works of international artists. He has published for independent labels such as Sounds Against Humanity, Ambient Noise Session, Fango Radio Editions, Zustandsaufnahmen.
